At Hartford Karate Dojo good manners and respect must be shown
to the instructors and to each other all the time.
When entering or leaving the Dojo, stop and perform
a slight bow into the area. Greet the instructors with a bow.
Never use bad language in the dojo and dont sit on or abuse the punching/kick
pads.
Never be late for lesson and dress comfortably and when
possible in a Gi
Never eat or chew ,this could be a choking hazard.
Finger and toe nails should be short and clean. Jewelry should
not be worn when training, for your protection.
When called to order, form a line with the highest grade on the left
hand side. When all students are the same grade, then the eldest student will be on the left hand side.
When the
line is formed and the Instructor is in place and ready, the senior student will call the class to order and all will bow
to the instructor who will return the bow.
Never attempt any technique until you have been shown by instructor.
At
all times, in the Dojo, the Black belt instructors will be called Sensei (Means teacher in Japanes) and assistant instructors is
Sempei.
Fighting or sparring will only take place under the supervision of the instructors.
If you need assistance
or help, or to leave the Dojo, turn to your instructor and call "uss Sensei " and wait for instructors responce.
Parents
are free to watch the lesson but are requested not to speak to or distract the students during a lesson.
When facing
a partner for sparring or to apply a technique, bow to each other at the beginning and at the end.
Any student behaving
in a disrespectful or dangerous manner will be asked to leave the floor. Loss of temper or bad language will not be tolerated
for any reason. Any dispute should be brought to the attention of the Instructor. A penalty points system is in place where
by you will be given points for breaking the rules.
Points will be given for the following :
1. Shouting or screaming in the dojo.
2. Talking whilst as instructor is talking.
3. Deliberate aggression.
4. Arguing or contradicting an instructor.
5. Disrespecting to anyone who holds a higher grade then you do.
Any points you are given will be deducted from the final score at your
next grading.
Continous offenders will be subject to expulsion from the club and their
membership will be revoked.
